Ventė Cape is a peninsula reaching into the Curonian Lagoon, with a history going back to the 14th century. In 1360 the Teutonic Order built Windenburg castle and a church here, but lagoon storms and ice destroyed them. The first wooden lighthouse was built at the tip of the cape in 1837, and in 1863 it was replaced by today’s 11-metre red brick tower — one of the few lighthouses you can climb to enjoy the view of the lagoon and the Neringa dunes.
In 1929, on the initiative of Professor Tadas Ivanauskas, an ornithological station was founded here — one of the oldest in Europe. Ventė Cape has the largest bird traps in the world, and almost 2.5 million birds have been ringed here over the years. The museum tells the story of bird migration and ringing.
The best time to visit is the spring and autumn migration, when huge flocks fly over the cape. The lighthouse is just a few hundred metres’ walk from Ventainė.
Minija (Mingė) village, often called the Venice of Lithuania, lies on the lower reaches of the Minija river, close to where it flows into the Curonian Lagoon. It has been mentioned in historical records since 1540, when it had 76 houses and more than 400 inhabitants.
It is the only village in Lithuania where the river serves as the street: there is no bridge over the Minija, so people on opposite banks travel by boat, and every homestead has its own landing. The brick and wooden houses typical of Lithuania Minor face the river with their main facades.
The village is best seen from the water — by boat, kayak or on our sightseeing trip around the Nemunas Delta. Along the way you pass reed beds, delta meadows and the quiet life of a fishing village.
Aukštumala raised bog in the Nemunas Delta holds a special place in the history of peatland science. In 1902 the German botanist Carl Albert Weber published a monograph on it, regarded as the world’s first scientific study of a bog, which is why Aukštumala is called the cradle of peatland research.
A nature trail more than a kilometre long leads across the raised bog on wooden boardwalks. Information boards tell about the bog’s plants and wildlife, the bog villages that once stood here and the first scientific research.
At the end of the trail, by a small bog lake, a 3-metre viewing platform opens up a remarkable panorama of the bog. The trail suits families and an easy walk in any season.
Monteball is a mix of football and golf on a 14-hole course. The aim is to kick a football-sized ball into the holes in as few shots as possible, getting past natural obstacles, mounds and dips that make every shot a tactical challenge.
A game lasts 1.5 to 3 hours and needs no fitness or sporting skills, so it suits everyone from children to grandparents. An ideal choice for birthdays, company parties and team-building events for 5 to 100 participants; after the game you can have lunch on the restaurant terrace or carry on in the event hall.
The Curonian Lagoon at Ventė Cape offers calm, safe water for fun. Take a ride on a motorboat, jet ski or yacht, or enjoy a quieter time on a kayak or paddle board.
A short ride can be combined with a sunset over the lagoon or a trip to the Ventė Cape lighthouse. We will show beginners how to handle a paddle board or kayak and suggest the most interesting routes around the delta to experienced paddlers.
Equipment and rides are available in the summer season by prior arrangement. Tell us which activity you would like and how many of you are coming — we will suggest a time and price.
For groups of 10 or more we organise boat trips around the Nemunas Delta. We sail past Ventė Cape and its old lighthouse, follow the Atmata river to the Uostadvaris lighthouse pier and the mysterious Krokų Lanka lake.
After admiring the vast reed beds, we enter the old village of Minija — the “Little Venice of Lithuania” — and continue into the romantic Upaitė river. Along the way we tell about the delta’s nature, birds and the life of the lagoon fishermen.
Trips are arranged in advance. On request we prepare a picnic with traditional fish soup, snacks and drinks.
At our summer restaurant, taste catfish soup made to an old Curonian recipe and the local “šišioniškiai” dessert — waffles. On the spacious outdoor terrace you can enjoy a light meal while taking in the rippling Curonian Lagoon, the sculpture park and the Neringa dunes in the distance.

For seminars and other events we offer a conference hall that seats up to 80 people theatre-style or up to 40 classroom-style. The small hall next door is ideal for coffee breaks, and you can also play Russian billiards there.

Ventainė marina is suited for short and long stays of small leisure boats and yachts (draught up to 1 m). Boats can be launched and lifted out with a slipway or a hoist. The buoyed fairway is 1–1.2 metres deep, so it is only safe for boats with a shallow draught. The harbour is monitored by cameras and has a modern boat security system.

We offer safe and reliable winter storage for your motorboat or yacht (up to 12 metres long) in closed, dry premises under a roof. Protect your boat from the effects of the cold season — snow, ice, damp and UV light — and start the new sailing season without extra worries. We can lift your boat out and launch it at our marina. Tell us the type and length of your boat and the storage period you need — we will send you a price.
